Recommendation:
To make a repurposed older computer work at its best, it should only be used for one (1) major duty. Since they run much slower than todays Quad-Core machines, stripping down any software in the computer that is not needed, except for one (1) major duty and what you need to make the computer run. This process works great! And, it breathes new life into what was once an obsolete machine.
Example:
If you make a jukebox out of one, only use it for a jukebox. Don't use the computer for surfing the internet or anything else. In fact, keeping it off of the internet, a computer can run for years without ever having a chance of getting a virus, nor will it need antivirus protection running on it. (As long as you do not get on ANY network or plug in ANY type of drive. Store bought audio CDs and DVDs only.) We have had our AudioStation (jukebox computer) running everyday for the past 7 years.
